Although there are very few studies in Turkey related to what the standard and ethical principles of online psychological counseling practices in Turkey should be, it is observed that this service is being provided actively via internet. It is possible to encounter a lot of results when we type ‘online psychological counseling’ in the Google research engine. In this respect, it is essential to clarify matters such as standards and ethical principles for online psychological counseling practices which are gradually gaining momentum in the practice, specialist training, in what situations and conditions online psychological counseling can be applied. These days, in cases where it is not possible to talk with the clients face to face due to different reasons in the field of psychological counseling, the methods and techniques of reaching out to clients or psychological counselors are being researched. Online psychological counseling is the neglected aspect of the psychological counselor education by the universities in Turkey. It is of great importance for the individuals who will provide this service to be competent and that leading professional associations determine the standard and ethical codes of the practice. Although it is hard to state that there are satisfactory amount of studies in our country regarding the online psychological counseling service delivery, existing studies are valuable for observing the current situation of the online psychological counseling in our country, it would not be inaccurate to assert that as a new field for Turkey, online psychological counseling service, is yet at a crawling stage.
